Yankee's Offense Saves Javy's Damn Life

After getting stomped on by the Angels last night 10-2, The Yankee offense decided it would be a good idea to get out of bed today and dropped L.A. 10-6 at the stadium.

Javy Vasquez pitched effectively on ten days rest for most of the game, until he nearly let a six run lead get away from him in the 6th inning. This outing for Vasquez just recently got interesting after Pettitte hit the DL for what looks like 4-5 weeks, and Phil Hughes shit the bed in the middle innings after being spotted a 2-0 lead last night. I don't even need to mention A.J. Burnett now do I?

Vasquez's mediocrity, Hughes most recent rough outing, and the loss of Pettitte don't add up to a great combination for this Yankees ball club right now. One of the most intricate leaders is gone for what is going to be a very tough and important stretch of baseball. Yikes. Vasquez hasn't made anyones pants tickle this season and all of a sudden he's our number three or four guy. Double yikes. Now more pressure amounts on Burnett to pitch like a serviceable number two guy, but he looks just flat out lost on the mound. Triple yikes. Are you catching my drift here? When the pitching staff is starting to look mediocre at best, after they proved in the first half it is the teams greatest strength, then where does that leave us now? All I see is a tight division race, that has teams staying in the mix. When the Yankees starters were mowing down lineups it was one thing, but if Boston gets healthy and Tampa stays consistent, we're going to be in trouble. That Cliff Lee deal is looking a whole lot sexier right about now.

Bright Spots: The Yanks won big with offense. It hasn't even been their M.O. this season like the starting pitching has been, but it's nice to be able to shit out 10 runs in what turned out to be an important bounce back game. And Big Tex looks like he's officially back with 3 hits and 3 rbi. Boom!
