Road Trip From Hell: Game 5 Preview

Mets face off against the Arizona Diamondbacks as they start the second series on this "Road Trip From Hell." The Dback pitching has been god awful this year so hopefully the Met bats come alive in the balmy Arizona night.

Mike Pelfrey (10-4 3.58 ERA) will be holding it down for the Metropolitans tonight while Ian Kennedy (4-7 4.17 ERA) goes for Arizona. Pelfrey looks to right the ship on this little rough patch he has been going through. In the past 3 starts, Pelfrey hasn't made it through the 5th inning. Hopefully that All-Star break gave him the time off he needed in order to get his mind right.

Lineup reads as this tonight:
Reyes, Pagan, Wright, Beltran, Davis, Bay, Barajas, Castillo, Pelfrey

Its the first time Reyes, Wright, and Beltran have appeared in the lineup together since May 20, 2009, which is something that absolutely makes my spine tingle. LOOK AT THAT LINEUP. ITS HOT. Id rather have Ike Davis hitting clean up until Beltran gets back into some sort of groove. I posted it on an earlier post but I'd rather see Beltran in the 3 hole, Davis hitting clean up, and Wright batting 5th. That would provide for a pretty pesky inning if Reyes or Pagan get on. Beltran wouldn't necessarily kill the inning if he failed to get one of them in to score because Davis would see some fat pitches with Wright batting behind him. Nothing phases Ike so put his clutch bat in the situations we want it in.

Mets need to take 2 out of 3 here simple as that. Only game Im willing to accept as a lose is when they face Hot Bat Haren on Wednesday and I still like our chances of winning that game with Niese scheduled to go the same night.

LETS GO METS
