The Road Trip from Hell: Game 2

10 Ks !?!?!?

What is going on with the Met offense!? Its non-existent. The Mets made Barry Zito look like he took a trip back in time with Doc Brown and found his old Oakland Athletic form.

Another fine performance from a Mets' starter as Jonathan Niese tossed 7, giving up 6 hits, walking 3 and striking out 4 while only giving up 1 earned. His efforts were wasted however as the Mets couldn't manage to score 1 measly run. The Giant's scored that 1 measly run, which was deemed acceptable by Zito as he completely dismantled the Met lineup through 8 innings of 2 hit ball, fanning 10 in the process. Pitching hasn't been the problem, as the Mets haven't scored a run in 18 innings and have failed to pick up a win on what I've identified as the "The Road Trip from Hell."

As Mets fans know all to well, the misery that has accompanied this team on the road this season has been horrendous, surrendering 10 walk-off wins to the competition, and I can guarantee another is on its way on this road trip. This road trip is a big determinant of the Mets' guts and testicular fortitude. Another sub .500 road trip and they'll have officially wasted the June success that had them 11 games above .500 and well in the mix for the NL East.

The Mets are now 0-2 on "The Road Trip From Hell" with 2 games remaining in San Fran. Pelfrey has been scratched from today's start due to a stiff kneck so it will be the wiley Asian Hisanori Takahashi vs. Matt Cain. Game time 9:05 PM for those wondering.

Cain has been slumping of late, but so was Zito, and the Mets may just be the panacea Cain needs to twerl a gem and get back on track. Hopefully this is not the case, but the anemic Met offense isn't showing anything to get our hopes up. Alas, I am a faithful Met fan so...LETS GO METS. Happy Saturday everybody !!
