National League: A Real League

So my morning cup of joe was going to be about how the National League finally broke the 7 year (13 total) All-Star Game losing streak to the American League. Well, since I couldn't do that this morning I'm gonna do it right now. Been preaching it for years ladies and gentlemen, the National League is a REAL LEAGUE. Its the purest form of the game folks. If your team's starting pitcher doesn't pick up the lumber at least once in a game then you are watching some soft baseball.

Look at the likes of Hot Bat Dan Haren. The man has the potential to twirl gems when he toes the rubber but thats not enough for him. The dude can really swing a stick, not to mention he rocks an excellent bro flow. Haren is batting .392 at the half way mark and was sporting a nice .425 avg a few weeks back. Having gone 20 for 51 and knocking in 7 runs, Haren even crushed a Chris Carpenter fast ball 425 feet to dead center for a home run. HOT BAT HAREN. Its great to see a pitcher contribute to his own cause. I was lucky enough to attend Johan Santana's Complete Game Shut out against the Reds last week but my favorite moment was when Santana jacked one against the right field foul pole for a home run.

Having the pitcher bat also puts more strategy in the game. I can't help but feel that the DH contributed to the raise of 'roids in baseball as well. Many don't know this but the DH was instituted in the AL because the AL was floundering when the NL was flourishing. Having a DH in the lineup didn't even hurt the NL last night as it probably made it that much easier for Chuck Manuel to end the 13 year losing streak. Well thanks boys for helping me prove my point. Now if the miracle Mets can get to the World Series, which will truly be a miracle, they'll have home field advantage to boot.
