Haaretz.com U.S. basketball star Amar'e Stoudemire is apparently on his way to Israel for a voyage of discovery after learning he has Jewish roots. "On the flight to Israel. This is going to be a great trip," announced the power forward, who plays in the NBA for the New York Knicks, via the micro-blogging site Twitter. According to an Army Radio report, Stoudemire plans to spend time in Israel learning Hebrew, having recently learned he has a Jewish mother. "The holy land. Learn about it," he wrote, adding "ze ha'halom sheli" – Hebrew for "this is my dream."
A gem! A gem piece this article is. A 6 foot 10 inch (granted he isn't wearing a yamaka) African American Jew who can flat out ball. I mean we all know Jews dominated the front office of the NBA but now they have a true Moses on the court.
Can you imagine Amar'e in Israel? Towering over his newfound hebrew brethrin. Priceless! The only thing the Israelis could compare to Amar'e in size is the length of their rabbis' sideburns to Amar'e's meat unit (no homo).
No wonder Amar'e is such a business man. You can probably expect him to start a fashion line of athletic yamakas that not only absorb sweat but remind you that God is above you. But really, how high above you could God be when you're crashing the boards and posterizing humans at will?
One thing is for certain. Jewish Heritage Night at MSG is gonna be a rockin party this season. I'm not even Jewish and I can feel the heat. I'm gonna need to pre buy those tickets for sure. Shalom!
