The Year of the Pitcher??

So this years season of Major League Baseball has been proclaimed the year of the pitcher: Dallas Braden and mother's day perfection, Edwin Jackson and the 150 pitch no-no, Brandon Morrow's 17 K gem just to name a few; so lets just take a step back for a second and pay respect to these feats because they truly are amazing achievements. Pitchers going out to toe the rubber and prohibiting professional batsmen from doing what they do best.

Now sure you can say 17 strikeouts is pretty damn impressive or HEY RICH Roy Halladay sat down 27 straight Marlins, but nothing can truly compare to Dock Ellis throwing a no hitter while tripping balls on LSD. Real Chatter or True Story whatever the hell you want to call it but that my friends is dominance.

Just another day at the office for the good Dock. In the midst of his off-day trip, he forgot he was scheduled to pitch and ultimately dropped a few more tabs of acid but that didn't matter as he proceeded to pitch 9 frames of hitless baseball, walking 8 and striking out 6 in the process, beating the Padres 2-0.

So call it the year of the pitcher all you want but until another LSD no-no goes in the books, YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET. Eat your heart out David Wells. Drunken perfect games ain't got shit on hallucinations and no-hit baseball.

P.S. - Dock Ellis sounds like hes on LSD as he recounts that very day, "One time i covered first base and i caught the ball and i tagged the base all in one motion and i said ooo I just made a Touch Down." Thats priceless shit.
