The Road Trip From Hell: Thank Christ thats over

11 games,  8 losses, 3 shut outs and 2 walk-off loses later it is finally safe to say, ITS OVER. The Mets Road Trip From Hell was exactly as advertised: a test to see if the Mets were true contenders, and the answer is NO.

Except for 2 of the 11 games, Met pitching was more than quality. Consistent quality performances turned it by Santana, Niese and Dickey, even Takahashi twirled a gem, but when you only score 23 runs in 11 games, your doomed. How can you expect to consistently win games when you're averaging 2.09 runs per 9 innings? You can't! You won't!

Question for you HoJo? What are you coaching these batters to do? This lineup has to be one of the most inpatient I've ever seen. The at-bats resemble that of a bad game of MVP baseball 2005. Just swinging away, not working counts and allowing the opposing starting pitcher to easily wiggle out of any jam.

Jerry is once again constantly jumbling the lineup, not allowing for any sort of routine to be developed by the hitters. One of the most standout traits of that June hot streak was that the lineup card was rather consistent every night. You would think having Beltran back in the lineup would provide some sort of spark for the team, but its been nothing of the sort and more questions have arisen because of it.

Question for you Jerry? Why is a bum who hasn't played major league baseball all season batting cleanup for a squad that 11 games ago was in the division race? 11 games into his 2010 season he's proven worthy, going 6 for 36 with 2 runs scored and 1 batted in!? GET JERRY A STAT BOOK.

Our rallies are already killed enough by Jason Bay, but now Jerry is allowing Beltran to hold us back as well. I have no problem starting the man just stop asking him to deliver fresh off the DL with a rusty right knee. Did you see that knee brace!?!? As of now the hopes of the season are fully invested on the durability of Beltran's right knee. Makes me stress!

Put Ike Davis in the clean up spot! Set it and Forget it. He excelled there, if it ain't broke don't fix it. He has had the biggest hits for the Mets ever since he was called up early in the season. Obviously it doesn't phase him, but hey Jerry keep jumbling away i guess its worked for you so far.

If you're a Mets fan like me, you're searching for reasons to keep watching. It seems every game is a pitchers duel that we come out on the short end of. WE HAVE THE PITCHING! NOW WHERE IS THE HITTING?!?!?! I don't consider that late June hot streak a "smoke screen" because the Mets were able to beat top contending teams in the Padres, Tigers, and Twins, but until there's some sort of chemistry in that line up, you should expect nothing. Not a playoff berth, not a playoff run, not even a meaningful trade at the deadline. Jerry and Omar just seem to shrug it off so I guess we'll have to wait it out, but if you're a die hard like me, you're disgusted. This team is headed no where fast and heads may start to roll.
