Yankees And Playoff Baseball Is A Match Made In Heaven!
162 games in the books and I can fucking taste the beauty that is baseball in October. As far as playoff's go, personally the aura of a pressure packed series just does it for me. Easily my favorite playoff system of any sport. Sure, the NFL really keeps things dramatic with the "one and done" scenario, and the fact that your team can barely make the playoffs and then make a legitimate run at the Super Bowl is something special bro (see 2009 New York Jets).
So while many may complain that the Major League season is too long don't know what the fuck they are talking about. It may be a marathon, but it certainly weeds out the pretenders from the contenders. If your team is one of the 4 BEST in either the AL or NL, they should make the playoffs. That's the beauty of a long season. Look at 2 great examples for this year: Twins and Padres. Minnesota looked mediocre for a lot of the year until they began to gel and basically couldn't lose at home in the second half. Padres were playing quality ball all year but when it came down to it, the Giants were just a better team - the long haul of a 162 season proved that inevitably.
Alright Bombers fans. Its playoff time. Seriously last year's run was one of my FAVORITE ever. CC shutting mouthes all over about his newly acquired postseason guile, Mo was unhittable, Arod with dramatic hit after dramatic hit while we all joined Kate Hudson in wetting our panties, and Jeter was just - Jeter. No homefield? No problem. No Divison title? It's okay. These are the Yankees and we OWN the Twins in October and I'm feeling good bro.
If you're wondering, yo Dbl-A why so serious? You just got your Mike Francesa mindset working overtime. Well I say fuck all that. Yes, I am killin' it right now, but this stuff is literally my passion. Since my life as a fan i've witnessed 15 playoff appearances, 7 world series appearances, and 5 titles. Yup, that's whats called being a blessed motherfucker.
PS - Rest of the league: Atlanta Braves @ San Francisco Gaints, Cincinnati Reds @ Philadelphia Phillies, Yanks @ Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers @ Tampa Bay Rays
