The SportsBrah Pick Off: Place your bets bro

The NFL season kicks off tonight and that means its time for another clash of the egos between R.C. Suessmandzadeh & Dbl-A.

Dbl-A and I have decided to make this a bit of competition between the two of us so we set up some rules in order to measure each other's football knowledge:
  • Pick 5 games of the week
    • 3 solid picks
    • 1 upset pick (underdog determined by scoring line)
    • And your squads game (Me: Giants, Adam: Jets)
We’ll tally them up week to week and who ever has the best record at the end of week 17 has to buy the other a fantasy stash. Sounds easy enough, but is it?

So of course we need to call this weekly segment something so prepare for “Dick’s Picks.” I intend on using these picks while trying to stack up cash on sportsbooks.com so I do stand by them, but of course guarantee you nothing.

"Dick's Picks" Week 1
Oakland Raiders at Tennessee Titans - Pick: Titans
Until the Raiders show anyone anything it’s a pretty solid pick to just pick against them every week. Until the crypt keeper Al Davis defeats immortality this team is destined to be horrible for years. Although, they did impress me with that Rolando McClain pick in the draft a few months back. Lets give the Titans some credit though. Vince Young is a more mature quarterback and with Chris Johnson in the backfield they have the ultimate weapon of mass destruction.

San Diego Super Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs – Pick: Chargers
Something tells me that rookie running back Ryan Mathews is going to have a coming out party for Whales Vagina. The Chiefs defense is soft and Phil Rivers is not going to have a problem spreading the ball on that defense, opening up the run. Charger defense isn’t anything to right home about but if the questionable Chiefs offensive line doesn’t block for Matt Cassell and Jamaal Charles they stand no shot in keeping up with the Chargers offense. To quote the governator, "Go Chargers, Go!"

Atlanta Falcons at Pittsburgh Steelers – Pick: Falcons
Blitzburgh D always comes to play but I’m expecting the Dirty Birds to do the same. Matt Ryan becomes to deciding factor as his in game experience guides him to a hard fought victory. I guess you could call this game a toss up but I’m high on the Falcons and not Dennis Dixon.

Cincinnati Bengals at New England Patriots – Pick: Bengals
UPSET ALERT – If the Bengals field a defense similar to last years they should have no problem beating top teams in the NFL. The Patriot defense looks horrible however and I expect Carson Palmer to take advantage of it. T.Ocho Show sighting! Should be a close game and a good game to watch.

Carolina Panthers at New York Football Giants - Pick: Giants
Opening night at the new house. How could I pick my boys to lose? The Panthers tend to have Eli Manning and the Giants number, making this a tough pick, but considering the circumstances Giants will raise to the occasion. Giants must stop DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart if not then they’ll make Matt Moore look like the second coming of Bart Star.

Alright Amato, we are awaiting yours.

-R.C. Suessmandzadeh
